The largest university in Canada and one of the greatest universities in the world. Founded in 1827 under the name "King's College" (King's College) under a charter issued by the British Crown and was granted the following year to the floor area of 225.944 acres, and initiated the construction of buildings in 1842, and within a year began teaching.
Current official name of the University adopted in 1849 under the new charter. Since then it has grown so quickly assumed pride of place among Canadian universities, and increases the number of students today about 60 thousand students, and includes libraries Fifty more than 7 million volumes. The university buildings are spread over three areas are the center of the city of Toronto, where the main campus and the Central Library, and the "campus Aerndaal" in the southwestern suburb of Mississauga city, and "campus سكاربره the" suburb سكاربره in the north-east. It includes colleges of Arts and Sciences, and Applied Science and Engineering (various specializations), nursing, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, music, law, education, forestry, School of Architecture, the School of Physical Education and Health.
